Crochet !!
Learning crochet in May of 2024, it is my newest skill and hobby. It has a long rooted history in feminism & activism. The pink hats at the first Women’s march, back to suffragettes crocheting banners in the 20’s and Irish farmers crocheting during the famine as another stream of income. My own focus will always be the Environment. Each piece is crocheted with up-cycled materials; thrifted fabrics, beading, yarn, or anything else I can find! Some materials are gifted from people who would otherwise not use them. The Environmental Protection Agency released a statement in 2018 that 85% of textiles end up in landfills annually. This is my way of trying to reduce that. I currently have a yarn and fabrics scrap that every little piece goes in and I will be finding a way to use them!
